Have questions about silk pillowcases? Here are answers to common questions we receive.  We hope you'll find the information helpful.

What are the benefits of a silk pillowcase?

Whether you have curly hair, hair extensions, newly styled hair or eye lash extensions the 100% pure silk satin keeps bed heads under control with less pulling and tugging, lessening hair breakage and loss.

Soft on skin, won’t cause sleeps creases.

Especially gentle on new hair growth or when recovering from chemotherapy treatment.

Ideal for:

  • Allergy sufferers – both silk and bamboo are hypoallergenic; suited for skin sensitivities
  • Alopecia – very gentle on scalp and won’t pull on fine, new hair
  • Hair control – unlike cotton, won’t twist and pull on hair; protect your hair and eye lash extension investment
  • Unique gift – a luxurious and thoughtful gift for your special person that will be appreciated for many years

Why do you combine bamboo sateen and silk charmeuse?

We chose silk charmeuse because it has the smoothest satin finish compared to other silk fabric types, such as organza, dupioni or twill.  Although expensive because of the high quality finish, this smoothness is the gentlest for hair and sensitive skin.

Adding 100% bamboo sateen to one side of the pillowcase prevents the pillow from shifting on the bed, while still offering an incredibly soft feel.  The sateen finish is smooth like silk and refreshingly cool.

Both fabrics are hypoallergenic, making the pillowcase ideal for those with skin sensitivities.

Benefits:

  • Silk charmeuse is one of the smoothest and softest silk fabric, making it ideal for hair control and scalp
  • Bamboo sateen stops pillow from shifting, while maintaining smoothness
  • Bamboo and silk are hypoallergenic

What is the difference between satin and silk pillowcases?

Satin pillowcases are not necessarily silk pillowcases.  “Satin” refers to a glossy, smooth fabric weave and can be polyester, rayon, nylon or silk.  Claims that satin pillowcases have the same benefits as silk pillowcases can be misleading.

Synthetic fabrics such as polyester are not breathable nor offer the same gentle warming and temperature regulating benefits as silk.  Users often comment that polyester satin pillowcases are hot for sleeping and can be too slippery.

Satin pillowcases can be made from synthetic fabrics, whereas silk pillowcases are made with 100% silk.

 Where are the pillowcases made?

Our silk pillowcases are made in-house by Serica Home, in Toronto.

 What sizes are the pillowcases?

Standard sized silk pillowcases are 20 x 32 inches.

King size silk pillowcases are available upon request – sized at 20 x 42 inches.

 What colours are available?

Our pillowcases are available in white and ivory.

Small silk trims are added for a touch of colour.  Trim colours include burgundy, navy, mocha, sage, and tangerine.

Trim colours change frequently so it’s best to inquire if you’re looking for a specific colour.
